Java Developer

£0 - £0 Per Annum

Edinburgh, City of Edinburgh

Permanent | Full Time

A genuinely interesting new vacancy for a Java Developer to work with a specialist company based in Edinburgh has become available.

They are looking for someone to come in and help modernise their existing 3 tier primary application, as well as their centrally developed production systems hosted on AWS. This will include both the way that the software is written and developed.

The successful individual would need to feel comfortable being involved in all aspects of the development life-cycle (requirements analysis, development, testing) as well as being involved in deployment/monitoring and to a certain extent 2nd tier technical support to back up their remote customer facing technical support team.

Working in a small, tight-knit team this is an opportunity to put your mark on what they do and really get involved in what this company produce. As it’s a small and specialist environment of 5 people growing to 7 there is lots of variety in the role which keeps things interesting day to day.

Candidate Requirements/Background

* Java EE experience, certainly some familiarity with the JMS, JPA, JAX-RS, JAX-WS specs

* jUnit testing

* Wildfly Application Server

* Linux command line experience

* Relational Database experience

There are other beneficial aspects they are looking for but the above represent the core attributes and if you are working with them then it is likely you will have relevant experience.

Career Progression

They are considering candidates with around 5 years’ experience give or take a year or two, which is somewhere in the middle of their current team. There is therefore room for growth into a senior development role in time.

On offer for this role is a competitive salary which is dependent on experience with additional bonuses including pension, private health, annual health checks, shares scheme and the opportunity to work from home 2 days per week after 6 months of service
