As a full stack Software Engineer, you will be a vital member of our team working with a diverse range of technologies (such as PHP7, Docker, Vuejs and our distributed data platform). You will enjoy working in a friendly environment and benefit from our investment in staff

Main Responsibilities

• We will help you learn how to use our big data platform - HPCC - through a combination of training courses, self-learning and peer support

• Contributing to the design of new features and solutions

• Developing and delivering features across the full stack (including use of modern PHP frameworks, front-end frameworks, HPCC and other tools)

• Contributing to the quality assurance effort, including use of test automation tools (such as Cucumber) and Continuous Integration tools (such as Jenkins)

• Working closely with the product owner and project management to deliver timely products and enhancements

Essential Skills and Attributes

• Passionate collaborator with a focus on what is best for the team (both immediate and the wider group)

• Strong and enthusiastic technologist, able to demonstrate a broad technical knowledge

• Good PHP development skills using modern PHP frameworks (such as Zend, Laravel or Lumen)

• Understanding of Kanban or Scrum and enthusiasm to be part of an agile development team

• Understanding of modern development Build, Test and Deployment pipelines

• Experience working with relational databases such as MySQL

• Excellent oral and written communication skills

• Clear focus on the customer

Desirable Skills

• Experience of querying distributed data platforms and data warehouses

• Experience of TDD and BDD for contributing to automated test packs

• Active participation in the development community

• Experience of front-end frameworks, such as Vuejs

• An interest in modern software development, including Docker and Continuous Delivery

• A good understanding of SOA and API concepts, including security

• A strong working knowledge of application development tools and methodologies
